The collaboration between Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts and the Wisconsin Association of Treatment Court Professionals led to the development and maintenance of ongoing commitment, communication, coordination, and cooperation.
Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts are the products of comprehensive design, collaboration, and teamwork both within and outside a tribal nation. In many instances, not only is cooperation required between branches, departments, and programs within a tribal government, the success of a Tribal Healing to Wellness Court many depend on those coordinated efforts between the state, local government, and neighboring County Treatment Courts.
Mission Statement
Each tribe has its own customs, laws, and cultural needs, necessitates tailored approaches to the development and sustainability of Tribal Healing to Wellness programs.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to empower our Wellness Courts to use our culture, traditions, and values to assist in healing our Native communities and help break the cycle of drug abuse and reduce criminal recidivism.
“The holistic goal of a Tribal Healing to Wellness Court is to help chart a healing to wellness journey for individuals who have lost their sense of direction, their vision and purpose. Wellness Court convenes to redirect a disoriented unsteady, and dazed individual onto a better course or path. It points a person toward a place where strength and balance can be found.”
