Ho-Chunk Nation Judiciary Admin Order
A Special Announcement from the Ho-Chunk Nation Department of Higher Education
April 6, 2020
Dear Ho-Chunk Scholarship Recipients:
Great news! Our scholarship program is back and our team will be able to provide scholarships to Ho-Chunk post-secondary students for the upcoming summer 2020 term and limited scholarships for fall 2020 while our financial resources last. At present, we do not anticipate providing scholarships for the spring 2021 term.
Who is impacted:
Any enrolled Ho-Chunk member who is attending a non-profit title IV eligible institution. Students must be in either good standing or on probation in order to receive a scholarship.
When should you apply?
As soon as possible! Financial resources are limited and not every student who applies will receive a scholarship, particularly for fall 2020. Students must complete the entire Ho-Chunk Scholarship Application process no later than June 15, 2020, in order to receive consideration.
Application procedures:
- Complete your 2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible.
- Students who wish to apply for a summer 2020 scholarship should complete this application and email it to higher.education@ho-chunk.com.
- Students who wish to apply for a fall 2020 term scholarship should complete this application and return it to higher.education@ho-chunk.com.
- All applications must be completed and supporting documentation must be received by the Higher Education Division no later than June 15, 2020. No incomplete applications will receive consideration.
- Be certain to include your Tribal ID number and current legal name on your application. Applications with conflicting information will not receive consideration.
Does this mean that all of Higher Education’s programs are returning?
No. Due to the limited financial resources, the scholarship program is the only program that will be reinstated. All other support programs (e.g. College Access Program and Graduation Achievement Awards, etc.) will remain suspended until further notice.
We appreciate your patience, and we are excited to serve our students once again. Please contact higher.education@ho-chunk.com or (800) 362-4476 for any further information. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nehomah Thundercloud
Executive Director of Education
